Education Minister chairs UoB board meeting

Manama: Education Minister Dr. Majid bin Ali Al-Nuaimi has today chaired the University of Bahrain (UoB) 15th board meeting, which was held remotely.

The virtual session was attended by Finance and National Economy Minister Shaikh Salman bin Khalifa Al-Khalifa, Labour and Social Development Minister Jameel bin Mohammed Ali Humaidan, Health Minister Faeqa bint Said Al-Saleh, Youth and Sports Affairs Minister Ayman bin Tawfiq Almoayyed and Civil Service Bureau (CSB) Chairman Ahmed bin Zayed Al-Zayed.

UoB President Dr. Riyadh Youssef Hamza, Urban Planning and Development Authority CEO Noof Abdulrahman Jamsheer, Education Ministry Undersecretary for Resources and Services Dr. Mohammed Mubarak Jumaa, HEC Assistant Secretary-General for Evaluation and Accreditation Dr. Mona Mohammed Al-Balooshi and Dr. Mansoor Mohammed Sarhan were also present.

The UoB board of trustees chairman and members paid tribute to His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al-Khalifa, hailing his keynote address to the educational personnel and his support to the sector.

They also extended deepest thanks to His Royal Highness Prime Minister Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al-Khalifa and to  His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander and First Deputy Prime Minister for their support.

They commended the efforts exerted by the National Taskforce for Combating COVID-19 to issue the complete guide for educational institutions, congratulating students on the new academic year 2020-2021.

The university was also praised for the dedicated efforts it has exerted to overcome the fallout of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) and mitigate its impact on academic life.

The panel approved minutes of the previous board meeting, while Dr. Hamza gave an update on the UoB preparations and precautionary measures for the new academic year.

It also endorsed a second term for College of Sciences Dean Dr. Mohammed Mustafa Al-Helou, College of Arts Dean Dr. Abdulaziz Boulila and IT College Dean Dr. Lamia Mohammed Al-Jasmi.
